BAMroll Update: August 06, 2009

We are in the era when ‘a little birdie told me’ is a well-respected source of information, and not just a sarcastic phrase. That’s right, it’s Twitter Time! Our vocabulary has come to adopt the new wave of online jargon that includes such comical terms like tweet, thumb, sphinn, and digg.

Twitter

As social media becomes a major player in the online world of business and networking, these ‘little birdies’ are tweeting their ways into the lives of you and me. However, it is not as easy as one might think. Although the bare essentials can be mastered by children, creating a following and retaining them is quite a difficult task.

Thankfully, these two blogs help shed light on the methods and strategies necessary in order to maximize your Twitter practice.

  • This blog ‘Here’ was created and is written by Kieron Donoghue who also owns and operates UK Offer Media Ltd. His blog How to Use Twitter to Grow Your Online Business is an informative tool with some great tips for those who are interested in Tweeting. His experience is focused primarily around affiliate marketing but he specializes on online marketing in general.
  • Chris Frost aka Frostie on the A4U affiliate forums is an experienced online marketer and affiliate. He has been very active in the UK affiliate marketing and PPC arena over the years and is well-versed in the social aspect of networking. His blog, Increasing your Twitter Following, gives insight into what has worked well in the past and things to consider for your own Twitter page. Moreover, he has several blogs pertaining to Twitter and maximizing its potential.

If you are interested in keeping up-to-date with informative blogs that are featured here, you can download the OPML file on our BAMroll page.  We also have badges for your blog, if you’re already a BAMroller.

BAMroll Update: July 30, 2009

Blogs, ning, myspace, wikis, facebook, twitter, youtube. web-based CRM, google docs…What the heck is a website nowadays? Just about anyone can have a web presence. The options are endless: personalize a twitter account, edit wikipedia, create an event on facebook, and on and on. At Affiliate Summit East, a panel of marketing experts will explore the traditional website model, with a focus on their evolving role in a business plan. For details on the session, check out the agenda (where this session is listed about a quarter down the page).

Two participants on the panel have blogs that delve into these issues. (We’re adding the to the BAMroll because if they’re at Affiliate Summit, they must be into affiliate marketing.)  Take a sneak peak at their positions to get a sense of how the discussion might go.

  • The moderator of the panel is Shashi Bellamkonda whose personal blog is happenings, advice, and other technology thoughts ! He works for an online marketing company, and uses real-life examples in his posts to prove his point: social media is invaluable to business growth!
  • Ramon Ray is a technology evangelist, and together with colleague Laura Leites, posts on Small Biz Technology with the same purpose that drives their eponymous business. They serve small and medium-sized businesses who want to reach their potential with the help of technology. This includes keeping a finger on the pulse of affiliate marketing, as well as suggesting smart business practices, reviewing products, and well, offering insight on what websites are for!

Let us know if you’re going to the Affiliate Summit, which begins August 9 in New York. If you’d like to speak with Nicky Senyard (CEO), or Maranda Moses (Affiliate Manager) about how Share Results could serve your website-related needs, they would be happy to set up an appointment. Like the panelists above, we have lots to say about what websites are! Of course, what we say will depend on your needs. Even if you’re not going to Affiliate Summit, email us anyway to have our own ’session’ to discuss what websites are for. Get the conversation started by emailing us at info@shareresults.com.

See you next Thursday, with our final Affiliate Summit focused BAMroll update!

BAMroll Update: July 23, 2009

The two new additions to the Big Affiliate Marketing blogroll will both be attending Affiliate Summit East. This must-attend event is held in New York City from August 9th to 11th. If you go, you would have the chance to meet these bloggers, and also Share Results Affiliate Manager Maranda Moses, and CEO Nicky Senyard.

Affiliate Marketing BlogBoth of this week’s affiliate marketing bloggers also happened to write about contests and boats in their most recent post. Coincidence? You tell us :)

  • Beautiful British Columbia is written by someone who loves boating, and also affilate marketing. A good example of a unique combination of the two is her most recent post. It’s part of her entry for a yacht party contest — a spin on a music video that’s gotten a lot of hits on youtube lately.
  • Logan Thompson doesn’t share his video with us, and I’m wondering how it compares to aforementioned entry. He may not have had to make one, since he already has a ticket for the Market Leverage party held during the Affiliate Summit.

Many of the other bloggers we’ve featured on the BAMroll will be attending Affiliate Summit East. A good way to find out is to download the OPML file found on our BAMroll page, to get a feed of recent posts from BAMrollers. Those who are attending will surely be mentioning it in coming weeks. And maybe they’ll share their entry videos too!

BAMroll Update: July 9, 2009

This week’s new additions to the BAMroll are young and restless. Although these blogs have only been around since May, they have both attracted our attention because of their affiliate-marketing related wisdom. Whether you’ve been on the BAMroll for a while or are hip to the scene, grab a badge –they are timeless additions to your site. Now for introductions to the newbies:

  • Infinite Income Plan is a blog with a mission: to solve the money puzzle by fitting together the affiliate marketing and internet marketing pieces with the home-based business ones. An edge piece here, a corner there…and lots of content in between.
  • New World Affiliate is a blog with a vision: to bring standard marketing methods to the realm of the internet and technology. BAMroll Update: Thursday, June 25, 2009

This week, we are adding award-winning blogs to the BAMroll. They were recognized at the a4uawards in June in the category of “Affiliate Marketing Blog of 2009.” We agree with the judging panel that the following blogs are about affiliate marketing in a big way. By ‘big’ we mean it’s worth downloading our OPML file from the BAMroll page so you can stay updated on their insightful and applicable posts…

a4u-award

  • Affiliate $tuff is the Affiliate Marketing Blog of 2009, and what a well-deserved award! This blog manages to be endlessly informative without overwhelming. It’s like an encyclopedia-yearbook hybrid: useful, searchable, entertaining, and with notes from the popular crowd written in the margins. Check out her wonderful glossary.
  • Lee McCoy was highly commended for this award, and again, very well-deserved! Easily absorbed, with a hands-on approach, and very good foresight–such features make it worth your time to read. Social media aficionados will be particularly satisfied with his defense of it’s value to online marketers.

A very sincere congratulations to Kirsty and Lee! There are badges here for you to put on your blogs.

BAMroll Update: June 18, 2009

Have you seen the movie Big Fish? It is directed by Tim Burton, and is about a son telling of his father’s life. As the title of the film suggests, there are tall tales galore–from conjoined twins to circuses to catching really big fish.

Our additions to the BAMroll this week don’t exaggerate their experiences or mislead you, but they do approach affiliate marketing in a way that you’ve never seen before and keep you intrigued just like the storyteller in Big Fish.

  • Can I Make Big Money Online? is the question, and the answer is, yes! This blog’s greatest asset is the relevance of their posts to internet marketers. The posts are about specific case studies, and reviews of trendy products.
  • SEO by the Sea is an in-depth look at all that is related to search engines. The site map here is as vast as the sea, but very navigable, thanks to well-categorized posts in a user-friendly blog design. If you only have time for one new blog this week, month, or year…this is the one.

To keep biting, you can download the OPML file on our BAMroll page.  We also have badges for your blog, if you’re already a BAMroller.

Here is the weekly update of the Big Affiliate Marketing blogroll. This Thursday, it’s short and sweet.

  • Schaaf Consulting has a blog in addition to their affiliate marketing and consultation enterprise. The blog is a good example of a certain style of communicating with affiliates, and they explain merchant specials and coupons.
  • Trisha Lyn blogs about where she’s going–career-wise, and conference-wise. As a current Affiliate Manager for an outsourced program management firm, she has lots of opportunities to participate at affiliate-marketing-minded conferences.
