Update: Affiliates can help moms and dads, too!

by Maranda

eLearnersThere’s been a lot of interest lately about education-related affiliate programs, how much they pay, etc. However, there’s more to promoting for an education-focused merchant than just dollars and cents. In the end, it’s about the quality of traffic sent and how many of those potential students referred actually pursue their academic endeavours.

Last month, Statesman.com published an insightful article about the increase in the number of people pursuing online degrees:

Demetria Barksdale tried unsuccessfully to earn a bachelor’s degree at three different colleges while she was in the Navy. It was ironic because she enlisted 22 years ago mainly to finish her education, she said…

Online offerings have been popular with military personnel and rural residents seeking access to higher education. Students like Barksdale say flexibility and lower costs have prompted them to take classes remotely even when traditional campus-based programs are nearby and particularly as the economy has worsened.

This all comes as no surprise to affiliates of eLearners, a popular affiliate program of choice for those wanting to promote in the education category. The article goes on to cite that the Sloan Consortium “estimates that online education will continue to grow for large institutions that can afford to offer more online courses.”

eLearners is well aware of the growth of online education. In the past few weeks, one of its new projects has been all the buzz in the media. We’re referring to its third installment of Project Working Mom. What makes this program so special at a time when online degrees are becoming a more popular choice for stay-at-home and working moms, is the fact that now even dads can participate in this opportunity. Yes, dads can now also vie for the chance to win a scholarship as they earn an online degree of their choice.

Project Working Mom… And Dads, Too! has been highlighted on sites like MSNBC and Examiner.com. This comes at an excellent time for parents who have wanted to pursue an online education, but have not had the funds to do so. This is very important considering that there are a lot of hard working families struggling during these hard times.

Equally exciting is the fact that select recipients will appear on an upcoming episode of the Tyra Banks show. This is all quite good news for working parents looking to education as an avenue to improve their family situation.
